Real Rocket Motor Manifold Master |
|
|
| This is an actual Martin-Baker H7 Ejection Seat rocket motor manifold. The manifold is the part that starts and controls the burn of the rocket motor when a seat is ejected. This is not an easy piece to mold. It is not possible to remove the arm aft of the main body or is it possible to remove the initiator tube on the right of the picture. The openings for the tubes and nozzles had to be filled with "Clean Clay". Then the whole manifold was set on a trough of "Clean Clay" as well. The arm and the initiator tube were molded individually on the manifold by building a molding container onto the manifold. Foam core board was used to mold the arm and was hot glued to the manifold and then set on end. The initiator tube was molded like the rocket tubes, except one end to the PVC pipe was cut to fit on the manifold and then it was also hot glued into place before pouring the RTV. |
