Real Martin-Baker H7 Ejection Seat

     Next Step

This is the rocket motor on an actual Martin-Baker H7 Ejection Seat used in the F-4 Phantom.  The rocket motor is the power plant that launches the pilot in his seat when the plane is disabled or damaged.  This rocket motor can save a pilot even from ground level as it can propel the seat up to 300 feet for the chute to deploy. As person who owns a surplus H7 Ejection Seat, I know that it is difficult to find the rocket motor.  The only way to obtain a rocket motor to mount on a collector's seat is to find an inert motor that was used for training purposes or a rocket motor from a seat that was used in an ejection from a downed Phantom Fighter. Then if you are lucky to find a rocket motor its time to take out a loan to pay for the thing.   I was lucky to have a friend who found and purchased a rocket motor  and I was even luckier when he agreed to allow me to mold and cast a copy.  When the motor arrived, I realized that this was going to be a challenge.
