Rocket Tube Mold Set-up |

| PVC pipe was used to as an external form for the molds of the rocket tubes. The pipe was cut to the correct length, allowing about 3/4 inch from the top of the tube to the top of the pipe when it is set on its end. The pipe was cut length wise using a Dremel Tool with a saw bit. The two halves were taped together and then hot glued to the PVC cap. It is important to cut the tubes before pouring the mold, because cutting the pipe after the mold is poured will alter the shape of the cast piece. The smaller mold was only cut along its length once, because the ease of removing the mold. Note the wooden and metal skewers were used to work out any air bubbles at the bottom of the mold when pouring the resin. |
